Probably about 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to take part in an essay-writing course at the Hartford Public Library. The course ran for six to eight weeks, I think, and it was taught by Lary Bloom, former Editor at Connecticut Magazine.

The handwritten sign was taped to the inside of the door. Like a human, I went ahead and pushed on the handle anyhow. Nary a budge.
